Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
This is an AHA (American Heart Association) certification.
Basic Life Support training (BLS) is often geared towards healthcare professionals (though there are plenty of other people who may need to be certified).
Furthermore, BLS certification places a stronger emphasis on working in teams. It will also teach you how to use additional equipment that is much more likely to be found at hospitals, such as bag valve masks (BVM).
It generally refers to the type of care that first-responders, healthcare providers and public safety professionals provide to anyone who is experiencing cardiac arrest, respiratory distress or an obstructed airway. It requires knowledge and skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using automated external defibrillators (AED) and relieving airway obstructions in patients of every age.
It trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality CPR, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED.

What Will You Learn?
This course focuses on teaching the essential skills rescuers need to know to perform high-quality CPR in a wide variety of settings. After successfully completion, trainees should know:
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
Training Format
This is an instructor-led, hands-on class format which reinforces skills proficiency.
The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments.

Class Duration
4.5 – 5 hours
Assessment and Certification
Each candidate must pass the physical skills assessment and the final test. Certification is by the American Heart Association.
Validity: 2 years
Cost
N50,000 per individual:
- a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 at our office in Ojodu
- For 6 people at your venue (If there are more than 6, training will be done in batches)
