Teenagers should Learn First Aid
First Aid for Teenagers is taught as a group course in schools, youth clubs, or a group of friend or even a scheduled course for individuals in a home. It is a wholly physical training consisting of CPR and Basic First Aid training.
This course is designed for children and young people to teach them both to keep themselves safe and to help others in an emergency situation. They will learn what to do in an emergency, practice CPR skills and understand about treatment for common accidents and illnesses – with particular focus on the sort of accidents and emergencies relevant to them.
It is incredibly important that older children and teenagers are equipped with the skills to keep themselves and each other safe. It is at this point that they are exerting their independence and will naturally take risks. It is also a time when they are looking to take on additional responsibilities, this course is particularly suitable for students who will look after younger ones.
Who is it for?
This course is ideal for those aged 13 years to 18 years. It prepares them to look after themselves and their siblings or others. They will have the confidence to be in charge of younger children and generally be more independent. It is adapted to the needs of the individual students and relevant to their particular ages and requirements.
What do they learn?
The course will entirely tailored to the needs of those attending. We cover care of the unconscious adult, child and baby who is either breathing, or not-breathing as well as the treatment of commonly occurring accidents and illnesses. We will cover in detail choking, head injuries, burns and scalds, poisoning, bleeding, breaks and sprains, seizures and any other areas that are of concern.
We will have practical sessions on the importance of some of the first aid skills taught, especially recovery position & CPR, particularly when young people may start experimenting with alcohol and drugs.
