The Sports First Aid course is designed to teach sports coaches, PE teachers, personal trainers, and other professionals who work in this industry, how to provide quality basic first aid. It covers essential information on minor and major injuries and how to provide the necessary assistance.
This course gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in a sports environment.

What Will You Learn?
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
- Primary & secondary survey
- How to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty (child & adult)
- Breathing: Recovery position
- Not breathing: CPR & Use of AED
- Injury emergencies: bleeding, strains, sprains, fractures, concussion, head & spinal injuries, burns
- Environmental emergencies: heat-related, poison
- Medical emergencies: choking (child & adult), asthma, fainting, hypoglycaemia, heart attack, seizures
- The First Aid Box
- The First Aid/Emergency Action Plan
Class Duration for Wholly Physical Training (In-house or On-site)
- 8 hours (including breaks and exam)
Assessment and certification
1. Each candidate is continually assessed throughout the class, with such an assessment being based on participation, verbal questioning and analysis of practical techniques carried out. There is a test at the end of the class which must be passed before certificates are awarded.
- 8 x Practical assessments
- 1 x Final exam
2. Certificate of Completion in Sports First Aid.
